Starbenders' "Cherry Wine" is beautifully mysterious and an invitation into another world. The song dropped as the fifth single from the American rock band's upcoming third studio album, "Take Back The Nite," which also has a dreamlike sense of escape. Produced by Nico Constantine and Patrick Collier, "Cherry Wine" finds Starbenders on particularly compelling form.
Starbenders consists of Kimi Shelter for vocals/guitar, Aaron Lecesne with the bass, Emily Moon with the drums, and Kriss Tokaji on the guitar. They created "Cherry Wine" during a particularly difficult time. The band survived life-threatening necrotizing bacterial pneumonia, addiction, and two years of a world caught in limbo. The new track reflects these dangers, and also makes that turbulent period feel more relaxed.
"Cherry Wine" by Starbenders uses fairy tale imagery to create an intoxicating space where dreams and nightmares can co-exist. It feels like you are entering a place you don't know. The song's fuzzy guitar gives the track a textured rock edge. It's music that seems to take the listener out of the everyday and into a darker, more fantastical landscape.
