The Air Jordan 6 "White Infrared" returns this fall, bringing one of the silhouette's most beloved OG colorways back to sneaker shelves. The upcoming retro drops November 7 for $215 and pays tribute to the shoe's heritage, bringing back several details longtime Jordan fans have asked for. In Air Jordan history, the 1991 "White Infrared" has earned a unique spot. The colorway debuted during the season Michael Jordan won his first championship, tying it to a pivotal moment in basketball history. This year's return also coincides with the 35th anniversary of the Air Jordan 6.
The design stays true to the classic combination that made the sneaker recognizable. The upper is made of white leather, and red accents are seen on the midsole, lace lock, heel tab, and tongue. Black details provide contrast while maintaining the familiar look without substantially changing the existing color palette.
One of the biggest talking points surrounding this release is the rumored return of Nike Air branding on the heel. This was absent from the 2010 and 2014 retros, so its return is especially significant for collectors and fans of original design elements. The shape is also said to be closer to the 1991 version, with changes made to the toe box and tongue height. These are details sneakerheads have asked for for years, and including them could make this release especially appealing to those who prefer the original model's proportions.
The Air Jordan 6 "White Infrared" will be available on SNKRS and at select retailers, including Foot Locker, Finish Line, Hibbett, Shein, and Dick's. The style code is CT8529-105. Adult sizes are expected, and some outlets have mentioned plans for children's sizes too. This colorway last appeared in 2014, so the upcoming release marks 12 years since its last appearance. That long hiatus makes this even more anticipated, especially for sneakerheads who have been waiting for this classic combo to return.
The drop also comes in a busy anniversary year for the Air Jordan 6. February saw the arrival of the "Reverse Infrared," one of a few other colorways to be added to the silhouette's 35th anniversary celebrations. The "White Infrared" is another important original-inspired option, and both Infrared editions are rumored to feature original design details.
Tinker Hatfield designed the Air Jordan 6 in 1991, featuring a rubber tongue, an exposed Air unit, and a unique heel tab, a first for the Air Jordan lineage. The heel tab was added to make the shoe easier to slip on and remains one of its signature features.
November will be a competitive month for Jordan Brand as multiple Space Jam releases are also expected. But the return of the "White Infrared" does give sneakerheads a definite reason to circle November 7 on their calendars. The retro looks firmly entrenched in Air Jordan history, combining anniversary significance, familiar styling, and reported original-era details in a $215 release.
