Singer-songwriter ROSIE's new single, "Startover," is her highly personal new release out on February 3, 2023 which is her birthday, is a single as much about reflection and emotional honesty. Dropping through Arista Records, the song is also the first single off her second EP, due out this spring.
Written by ROSIE alongside Jay Stolar and long-term collaborator Johnny Simpson, who is also in charge of the production of this new release. The essence of "Startover" has less to do with reinvention on a grandiose scale than with the process of emotional recalibration, about an inward exploration through battling mental health issues, such as the toll taken by depression and the tiring sensation of being at war with oneself. ROSIE conveys the idea that healing is a process of releasing internal patterns that no longer serve growth and of choosing to rebuild from a more honest place.
''Startover'' tone has a whispery urgency, as if it's chronicling a crisis in real time. It captures that delicate space where awareness begins to transition towards acceptance, and acceptance gently pries the door open to change.
