Foot Locker is deepening its presence in the New York basketball scene, announcing a multi-year partnership with the New York Knicks that will bring a retail space and fan-focused experiences to Madison Square Garden. The partnership, which was announced ahead of the start of the 2026-27 NBA season, names Foot Locker the Official Athletic Footwear Retailer of the Knicks. The deal gives fans another way to engage with the retailer at home games, blending sneaker shopping with activities and promotions throughout the arena.
At the heart of the collaboration is a special Foot Locker section in the Knicks Team Store. The space will be open to the public during home games, allowing fans to buy Knicks merchandise and sneakers in a new way. But don't expect a full-on Foot Locker store inside Madison Square Garden. Instead, the new location will be a retail space in the current team shop. Even with that caveat, the setup offers a one-of-a-kind shopping experience inside an NBA arena.
The partnership extends beyond the retail space. Foot Locker will also be featured throughout the arena and will host pop-up experiences during select home games. Planned activations include contests, signage, and a Knicks Theme Night to add a promotional element to the game day experience. To launch the partnership, Foot Locker is unveiling the Fan Express, a mobile experience that will tour New York City before settling at Madison Square Garden. The partnership will be on full display to local fans before it reaches its final destination at the Knicks' home arena.
The Fan Express will include sneakers, ticket giveaways, live podcast recording, and prizes. Details on the schedule and specific activities have yet to be revealed. Still, the mobile activation offers a first glimpse of how Foot Locker plans to bring the partnership to life outside the arena. The tie-up also aligns with a broader trend of linking retail experiences to sports fandom. This layered approach combines a dedicated retail space, in-arena promotions, and a city-wide mobile activation to give supporters multiple touchpoints to engage with the partnership.
Knicks fans can get Foot Locker products in the team store's new retail space, and additional events should create more chances to get involved throughout the season. But the timing and specifics of individual pop-ups and product drops are not made public. The partnership comes as the Knicks prepare for the 2026-27 season. As the team continues to prepare for the new season, fans now have a date to circle on the calendar, the team starts on October 20 against the Philadelphia 76ers.
