Megan Thee Stallion Opens Up About Heartbreak Following Klay Thompson Split

Megan Thee Stallion is getting real about how the breakup with Klay Thompson hurt her emotionally, admitting it hit harder than most would have expected based on how she comes across publicly. Months after their breakup, the Houston rapper says she is still working through the heartbreak and is still shocked how fast the romance ended. "I'm not trying to present myself as totally healed and I'm not looking to jump into another relationship anytime soon," Megan made clear in a new Marie Claire cover story.

The admission offers another view of the clean break Megan seemed to make publicly in April. Though the split may have seemed simple from the outside, her latest comments suggest that behind closed doors the experience has been much harder to navigate.

The emotional significance of the breakup also contrasts with the image Megan and Thompson built during their relationship. The pair first confirmed their romance in July 2025, when Megan spoke positively about Thompson in an interview with Page Six. Back then, she said he was "the first person I've ever gone out with that was actually a nice person."

Their relationship also appeared to go beyond a casual romance. Megan and Thompson were seen forging ties that included family get-togethers, but there were also indications they were beginning to build a life together at home. By February, the relationship seemed serious enough for Megan to talk about getting married. That made the eventual split a particularly big change from the future the couple had presumably been considering.

Megan suggests no other relationship is on the cards as she continues to deal with what happened with Thompson. The contrast between the earlier promise of the relationship and its abrupt end underlines her recent comments. What looked like a budding romance, progressing toward a more serious commitment, was cut short, and Megan has been coping with the sudden change in private.

For now, the rapper seems to be taking her time instead of forcing a new chapter before she's ready. Her willingness to admit she's still hurting offers a more truthful insight into the aftermath of a relationship that, only months before, had seemed to be going in a very different direction.
