R&B singer Jacquees has been released from Broward County Main Jail after being arrested over the weekend in Florida on DUI and battery charges. All Hip Hop reports that the singer was released Monday after posting $3,500 bail. The arrest has been a tough week for the 32-year-old performer, who was arrested after police said they found him passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle at an intersection in Hollywood, Florida.
Officers found Jacquees unresponsive inside the vehicle and attempted to wake him several times. When those efforts failed, firefighters were called to the scene and reportedly broke the passenger-side window to reach him.
Police say they detected alcohol on Jacquees, and the singer became combative when first responders tried to take him to the hospital. Things allegedly got out of hand when police said Jacquees punched an officer in the arm. Jacquees was taken into custody after an officer hit him in the face, the report says. Jacquees was subsequently arrested on charges of DUI, battery on an officer, and resisting an officer without violence.
But after his release, Jacquees told a different story about his run-in with the police. The singer told reporters she did not physically resist officers. Jacquees said that when he told the officers he didn’t want to go to jail, their hands were all over him. He admitted telling officers not to arrest him but denied physically resisting them.
As part of his release conditions, Jacquees is not allowed to drink alcohol or use drugs. He was released on $3,500 bail until the outcome of legal proceedings related to the charges. For now, the arrest adds a twist to the singer’s week, as questions revolve around the charges against him, his release conditions, and his response to the police account of the incident.
