U2 bring back the spirit of rock 'n' roll with the electric "Atomic City"

Irish rock band U2 have returned with "Atomic City", a new song that brings Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. back together for another rock-driven statement. Jacknife Lee and Steve Lillywhite produced the song. Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, Larry Mullen Jr., Debbie Harry and Giorgio Moroder are credited as the songwriters.

"Atomic City" is presented as a celebration of a particular rock n' roll tradition, borrowing from the energy of the post-punk era of the late 1970s. The track is rooted in a straightforward rock sensibility that connects its contemporary release to an earlier musical spirit.

The songwriting credits also add an interesting layer to "Atomic City." The song draws on a notable range of creative perspectives, with Bono, The Edge, Clayton, Mullen Jr., Debbie Harry, and Giorgio Moroder all credited as writers. The track is an energetic new chapter that celebrates rock's enduring appeal while also highlighting U2's continuing connection to the genre's rawer traditions.

Jacknife Lee and Steve Lillywhite produced the track, setting the stage for U2's four-piece lineup to deliver their latest musical statement. The band still delivers the song with Bono's vocals, The Edge's guitar, Clayton's bass, and Mullen Jr.'s drums at the center. "Atomic City" feels like a return to the immediacy of rock n' roll. It references the post-punk sounds of the late-1970s, giving the track a clear stylistic signpost while still letting U2 make the idea its own.
