The Valmonts tell a familiar heartbreak story with their new track, "Cry & Get a Little Drunk".

Dublin, Ireland indie rock band The Valmonts releases a new song, "Cry & Get a Little Drunk." The band, featuring Darragh Whyte on vocals and guitar, Keith Whyte on drums, Cathal Sweeney on guitar, and Tymek Kocurkiewicz on bass, takes the complex fallout of losing love and turns it into a song about not giving in completely. Darragh Whyte, Keith Whyte, Cathal Sweeney, and Tymoteusz Kocurkiewicz wrote it together, and Stuart Gray produced it, finding its emotional footing in memories, broken pieces, and the familiar comfort of a glass of wine.

"Cry & Get a Little Drunk" is about what comes next, the memories left behind, the pieces you have to pick up, and the nagging feeling that maybe there's something worth holding onto. The song itself was made without a complex plan. It started, naturally enough, at a rehearsal, with Darragh bringing in lyrics he had been working on. By the end of the day, the four had translated those ideas into a full new song. That organic beginning is a world away from the recording process, which became much more involved.

During production, the Valmonts had their guitars doing double duty, and then some, and it's a track with so many guitar parts that even the band has lost track. That detail marks the song's expansive indie-rock character and leaves plenty of space for its emotional weight to bloom. "Cry & Get a Little Drunk" feels like the soundtrack to a messy but honest night of trying to make sense of lost love.
