Southwest-based indie-rock band The Bedside Morale is excited to announce the release of their first track with Tim Kazer on vocals and guitar, Charlie Dowzell on lead guitar, Kynan Scott on bass, and T Coles on drums, titled "SafeWord," a debut single that looks backward while keeping a clear eye on the emotional complications of memories.
Built on the theme of escapism, the song explores the familiar temptation to view youth through rose-colored glasses. "SafeWord" also captures the denial that can come from romanticizing the past, though those memories can be comforting, too. The Bedside Morale doesn't see memories as purely warm and sentimental, but as something more complicated.
"SafeWord" is a great first single, both an introduction and a statement of intent. The Bedside Morale aren't just sharing their sound, they're opening a door to a world where memories can be a cover or a trap. "SafeWord" feels less like an escape from the past altogether, and more like an exploration of why we keep returning to it in the first place.
