RUST explores a darker side with his debut single "HATE ME"

RUST steps outside the familiar, using a new project to explore a different side of his sound, his solo project was born in the pandemic and marked by the release of his debut single, "HATE ME." Miguel Cardona, the vocalist of New York-based metalcore band Queens, takes a different musical path with RUST, diving deeper into his nu-metal roots while moving in a moodier, more aggressive direction.

"HATE ME" is an introduction to that world, a first taste of a project built around darker textures, heavier emotions, and a willingness to push beyond the bounds of his primary band. The track has the rawness you would expect from someone with Cardona's metalcore background, while nu-metal influence adds another layer of identity to the project. Baylis produced the track and is credited as a co-writer with Cardona, Michael Witworth, and Riley Thomas.

"HATE ME" offers an intriguing debut for RUST and a look at the direction Cardona is headed outside of his familiar work. It brings back the project's more aggressive, darker side while revisiting the nu-metal influences that shaped his musical roots.
