Liam Barrack transforms heartbreak, rejection, and recklessness into an honest debut on "Sines and Symptoms"

Toronto-based singer-songwriter Liam Barrack shares his debut EP, "Sines and Symptoms," a collection of four songs that transforms personal experiences with relationships, rejection, self-doubt, and recklessness into an intimate portrait. Produced by Ryan Worsley, the 12-minute, 37-second EP offers an eye-opening glimpse into Barrack's songwriting lens and the experiences that shaped his early artistic identity.

Recorded with Worsley at Echoplant in Vancouver, "Sines and Symptoms" finds Barrack turning complicated moments into songs. The EP's four tracks explore different hues of exposure while staying firmly rooted in personal reflection. Liam Barrack's debut, "Sines and Symptoms," is a song of honesty, self-examination, and the messy experiences of growing up.

The release opens with "Sick Kisses," a relationship-centered song about devotion and disappointment, and how to know when fighting for something starts to compromise your own resolve. Inspired by a past relationship and its fallout, the song helps Barrack process his emotions as he learns what he wants in future love.

On "Bulletproof," Barrack tackles inadequacy, unrequited love, rejection, and the hard work of accepting that some things don't work out. The song captures the rage and despair that can come with desiring the impossible, then shifts into a more accepting view of failure and emotional pain. "Tryin'" continues the EP's exploration of relationships and the struggle of trying to hold onto someone when you're barely holding yourself together.

The EP closes with "Memories," a funny look back at Barrack's drunken episodes during his first year of university. Its guitar is wavy, echoing the instability of that time, and moments of clarity echo the cycles of recklessness, confusion, and fleeting direction.
