YUNGBLUD turns painful experiences into a fierce statement in "Hated"

British singer-songwriter Dominic Harrison, also known as YUNGBLUD, released his new single "Hated," which is said to be his most personal release yet, turning painful experiences into a fierce statement about survival, self-discovery, and refusing to let the past write the ending.

"Hated" was released in partnership with the American Society for the Positive Care of Children, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing and raising awareness of child maltreatment and the lasting trauma caused by neglect and abuse. The song tackles trauma head-on but eventually moves toward something more hopeful, the freedom that comes with acknowledging what happened, accepting the pain and finding the strength to keep moving.

Written by Harrison with Paul Meany, Jake Torrey, and Adam Warrington, and produced by Meany, "Hated" doesn't come off as a polished pop statement so much as an emotional release that refuses to smooth its edges. A noticeable tension runs through the song, the idea of reaching a breaking point and emerging transformed on the other side. It's a message of resilience, of working hard not to let painful experiences define who you are. In "Hated," vulnerability is power, pain is propulsion, and survival is rebellion in its own right.
