Peter Gabriel builds a foundation in enduring human ideas and connections in "Love Can Heal (Bright-Side Mix)."

Peter Gabriel is set to release his ninth single from the forthcoming 10th studio album, "i/o," the song "Love Can Heal (Bright-Side Mix)." It is a deeply immersive moment built around one of the most enduring of human ideas connection. "Love Can Heal" is about how connection to other people, to the world, to something greater than ourselves can change how we experience life.

The song has a reflective history, having been written around 2016. Halfway through his tour, Gabriel started performing it, dedicating it to Jo Cox, the British MP who was brutally murdered by an extremist and whom Gabriel met at a leadership conference. That personal connection adds an emotional dimension, but its message goes beyond any one moment and fits naturally into the wider themes surrounding "i/o."

The track begins with a meditative, repeated sequence that builds into what Gabriel describes as a "sensual palette of sounds." That foundation gives the Bright-Side Mix a drifting, enveloping quality that allows the listener to sink into the experience rather than pass through it. Hans-Martin Buff's immersive work only compounds that feeling, making the song feel like a place to disappear into for a few minutes.

"Love Can Heal (Bright-Side Mix)" ends up sounding less like a statement and more like an ambiance. It's meditative, intimate, and intentionally immersive, translating the album's themes of connection into sound while leaving plenty of room for the listener to drift, breathe, and feel.
