Bath-based dream pop singer-songwriter Katrina Swift, also known as Lilac Haze, steps into a softer, more hopeful space with her latest single, "Daisy Girl," a dreamy new chapter from her forthcoming debut EP. Following the debut double singles "The Ghost I Once Knew" and "Lilac Haze," the new track continues to introduce the artistic world of Lilac Haze while embracing the courage to take a chance when something new comes around.
The "Daisy Girl" stems from the idea that we all have a little "daisy girl" in us that has the willingness to open the door to possibility, even when fear might say no. The song is about entering new relationships with an open heart, and not giving in to the urge to let uncertainty come between us and the chance of happiness. It gives the song an instantly relatable emotional core, built on vulnerability, optimism, and the small bravery it takes to start again.
"Daisy Girl" was co-produced by Swift and Calum Wotherspoon at Joe's Garage in Bristol, with contributions from guitarist Dylan Osafo and drummer Callum Maloney. Adam Ayan mastered the record, completing a collaborative production that brings together a group of musicians around Swift's dream pop vision.
With Lilac Haze's debut EP on the horizon, "Daisy Girl" has a playful feel to its creation. Working with her collaborators, Swift played around with different guitar sounds, helping shape a track that feels like a sweet treat, with emotional sincerity at its center.
