Holding Absence make darkness the leading character in their new song "Her Wings"

The British rock band Holding Absence digs deeper into their emo roots with their new release, "Her Wings." From the era of their third studio album, "The Noble Art Of Self Destruction," the song reveals a personal, heavy, and unapologetically vulnerable side of the band. The song also received its first play on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Jack Saunders, giving listeners their first chance to hear this new chapter.

With Lucas Woodland on vocals and keyboard, Ashley Green on drums, Scott Carey on guitar, and Benjamin Elliott on bass, the band built "Her Wings" on an atmosphere that welcomes emotional intensity rather than shying away from it. The band describes the track as a love letter to death, a representation of Holding Absence at their darkest, but also a step into territory they haven't explored.

"Her Wings" contains the emotional weight typical of Holding Absence, but the more prominent emo influence helps to carve out its identity. It doesn't feel like a simple continuation, but a conscious exploration of the darker corners of human emotion.

The track is an emotional release that shows a band willing to go into uncomfortable spaces and push their sound into more vulnerable territory. For a band on the brink of their third studio album era, it feels like a bold statement of where Holding Absence are willing to go next and how far they are willing to look inwards in the process.
