Singer-songwriter Lisa Heller is distantly separating the emotional story of her upcoming EP SADIE with "hollow," a deeply introspective single about the emptiness that lingers when love gets away, in Los Angeles. Co-written with Brandon Rosenfeld and produced by Chris Jobe and Lisa Heller.
"Hollow" finds Heller tipping into openness while still embracing her clarity. K and Newaye navigate the emotional tiredness that follows whilst recovering from a particularly traumatic split, balanced by lament, solitude, and frustration, veering between the agony of honesty and the relatable. Heller addresses what happens in the quiet aftermath of the void left behind when people continue to pass through your life occasionally but never commit to staying.
Heller opened up about how the song came to be during a natural writing session, after repeatedly being ignored by someone she still cared deeply for and was unable to move on. It becomes the pulse of the song, and gives "hollow" a lived-in sincerity that feels organic. A well-placed, light production that beautifully complements the emotional weight of the song, allowing Heller's storytelling to stay front and center.
