Joshua Radin turns distance into devotion on “This One’s For”

Joshua Radin's ''This One's For'' comes out alongside such a tender reflection that by mere virtue of its honesty seems less like something rigidly constructed in a studio and more like an expansive discussion over drinks between friends who can't bear to say goodbye .The song is a simple and touching tribute to the people he holds dearest in his life, friends and family away from home, whom he loves but who often find themselves separated here because of the demands of being a traveling artist.

The song after-show experience turned into something much more special, inspired by a night he remembered in Dublin, Ireland. It started at a pub in the local area and turned into one of those elusive, rare 'lock-in' sessions where the evening somehow carries on behind closed doors after closing time. Thus, music became natural and collective during this random meet-up.

A guitar circulated, songs were shared and taught without compensation, and Radin sang mostly without a PA, discovering a voice stripped down to tones more natural than he had believed possible. That night in Dublin continues to resonate with him, influencing the essence of "This One's For. This song is meant to feel like a packed room of tardy friends at 3 am, and this is how you get loose, warm as we move through the collective energy and emotion.
